Il Pacioccone was born in Perugia, in the heart of Umbria.
It was a small restaurant with a big personality, where Paolo welcomed his guests with traditional food, warmth and the unmistakable spirit of Italian hospitality.
One day, Marco walked through its doors.
What began around a table soon became a friendship – and eventually a shared idea: to bring that same authentic Italian experience to Amsterdam.
In 2013, Il Pacioccone opened in Sint Jacobsstraat, a small street in the historic centre of Amsterdam.
The idea was simple.
Not to create an interpretation of Italy, but to bring a piece of it here.
Years later, Il Pacioccone moved just a few steps away to Koggestraat, but its philosophy never changed.
The same love for traditional cooking.
The same search for quality.
The same Italian hospitality.
Our kitchen is deeply inspired by Umbria and Tuscany, two regions where cuisine has always been shaped by the land and the seasons.
It is a cuisine built around extraordinary ingredients rather than unnecessary complexity.
Our chefs follow this philosophy every day.
The menu is not fixed. It evolves constantly according to seasonality, availability and the quality of the products we find.
We believe that the ingredient should decide the dish – not the other way around.
Wine has always been part of the story.
Instead of building our cellar around famous labels alone, we search for wines that express their territory.
Our selection focuses particularly on small wineries and independent producers from Umbria and Tuscany: winemakers whose bottles reflect the land, the vintage and the people behind them.
Some names may be familiar. Others may be discoveries.
That is exactly the point.
We believe in doing simple things exceptionally well.
In knowing where ingredients come from.
In respecting recipes that existed long before us.
In opening a good bottle of wine.
In taking time.
And in remembering that some of life’s best moments happen around a table.
